New designers join show 24-26 July 2016

The Scoop And The City team, we are always on the look out for the very best of design and quality and this season will not disappoint. As always we have handpicked the most sensational clothing and accessories designers from across the globe. Expect to see stunning womenswear collections from London based designers Michael van der Ham and PINGHE, Parisian brand Maison Labiche, Belgian brand addmyberry and Danish brand Modstrom. Resortwear comes courtesy of Miami based label Pitusa and Los Angeles based label Sundry, vintage-inspired knitwear is provided by another Los Angeles brand Wildfox and ethical denim is supplied by Brit Monkee Genes. There is no shortage of accessories this year either. Jewellery brands Intua from Turkey, Ziio from Italy and Blaithin Ennis from Ireland will all showcase their new collections, while there will be gorgeous handbags from Germany’s Loup Noir, UK’s Sherene Melinda, Britain’shandbag doyenne Lulu Guinness will be exclusivelylaunching her new footwear range. Other shoe designers who’ll be showing include Maruti from the Netherlands, Denmark’s Ivylee and Saint-Tropez’s Les Tropeziennes.



London based designer Michael van der Ham is Dutch by birth but graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2009 under the tutelage of Professor Louise Wilson. His graduate collection, inspired by Andy Warhol, is characterized by the juxtaposition of feminine modern shapes and the glamour of couture reminiscence. His eponymous brand was launched in 2009 and in 2013 he won the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Forward prize. The signature style of Van der Ham is distinguished by the sophisticated construction of the dresses which are made by creating a harmonious and contrasting mix of colour combinations, textures and fabrics ranging from metallic jacquard printed silks, brocades fil-coupé to tweed. His dresses have been worn by actresses Keira Knightley, Kirsten Dunst, Diane Kruger, Claire Danes and TV presenter Alexa Chung. Among his many collaborations, he was involved with the costumes worn during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in 2012.

London based label PINGHE was launched by award winning Chinese fashion designer, Ping He. Whilst working for Alexander McQueen and Aftershock, Ping began receiving critical acclaim and gaining celebrity fans including Madonna and Uma Thurman. In 2012, Ping branched out and debuted her first eponymous collection in London. PINGHE is a fashion-forward designer brand that combines leather, sheer, and structured silhouettes. Actresses Naomi Harris and Olivia Coleman and TV presenter Poppy Jamie have all been photographed wearing PINGHE.

Paris based Maison Labiche is a fashion label launched by two young Parisians, Jenny and Marie, in 2011. Each item, from embroidered garments to accessories and jewellery, is made in their creative studio. Worn by Rihanna, Joe Jonas, Kylie Minogue, Brodinsky, Theophilus London, Tahar Rahim, Garance Doré, Mija_Mija, Maison Labiche is also sought for prestigious events such as the Cannes Film Festival and 150 years of Spring. Maison Labiche is stocked worldwide including Browns and Matches both in London and Colette, Le Bon Marché and Le Printemps all in Paris plus J.Crew in New-York. Maison Labiche’s Instagram boasts 19.2k followers.

Antwerp based addmyberry is a fashion label that combines clothing with technology. Each of their pieces are equipped with a QR-code which enables their customers to communicate and connect through fashion. To add an extra touch they created the DARE TO SCAN-application inviting scanners and their friends to play a truth or dare game. The addmyberry team consists of young, creative and professional entrepreneurs who opt for a rock ’n’ roll atmosphere in each collection, this is the main reason why they use bold and ambiguous quotes. addmyberry is stocked throughout Europe including Peek Boutique in UK. addmyberry’s Twitter boasts 17.3k followers.

Danish based clothing label Modström was established in 2004 and is known for its innovative designs that takes its inspiration from current trends. Modström designs, manufactures and sells young fashion for girls and is constantly creating new fashion styles that keeps up to date and keeps it fresh. The company launches 6 annual collections and monthly express collections. Modström’s Instagram boasts 112.6k followers.



Miami based resortwear brand Pitusa was established in 2010, by Clara Lago, with the goal of providing high quality, comfortable and affordable beachwear to women across the world. Their focus is to continuously create clothing that empowers women to feel confident in their own skin, while offering a lighthearted aesthetic, transitioning easily from beach to street. Pitsua’s garments are made from the finest Peruvian cottons, using a vibrant color palette along with their signature Inca trim. Pitusa employs women-owned ateliers based in Peru, who have been working with cottons for generations. The cotton is handpicked, woven, and dyed under ethical and fair trade working conditions. Pitusa is stocked worldwide including London’s Fenwick, John Lewis and Baar & Bass fashion stores.  Pitusa’s Instagram boasts 18.4k followers

Los Angeles based Sundry is a resortwear brand, aka coastal casual with a certain French chic. Born in Aix-en-Provence, designer Matthieu Leblan of Sundry now calls Venice Beach home. Drawing inspiration from the landscape of his birthplace and the relaxed style of SoCal, Leblan’s collections are made in the US from the softest of fabrics. Sundry’s Instagram boasts 27.3k followers.

Los Angeles based Wildfox is a vintage-inspired women’s knitwear brand. The label was co-created by two best friends who were inspired by a love for vintage T-shirts and the magic of everlasting friendship.  Known for its iconic campaigns, dreamlike quality, and clothes that tell a story, Wildfox has grown to include a full range of tops, bottoms, dresses, and skirts, while the White Label collection offers a range of luxuriously soft sweater knits, laces, chiffons, velour, and sequins. In 2014, Wildfox launched its first flagship store in the renowned Sunset Plaza in West Hollywood, CA. A second retail location opened in 2015 at the Malibu Country Mart in Malibu, CA. Distributed worldwide including London’s Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Harrods. Recent press includes, InStyle and Cosmopolitan. Wildfox’s Instagram boasts 1.1m followers.

UK based Monkee Genes is an ethical denim brand that started in 2006 by Phil Wildbore. Expect innovative fits and styles in classic denim with a retro twist and luscious sateen cottons in pop art inspired colours. This being their freshest collection yet, Monkee Genes have organic jeans from Indonesia, ethically produced jeans from Turkey and grassroots jeans made in England, all fairly made (and priced). They are launching their new ethical and ‘edge’ jeans, here at SCOOP, this being a world exclusive especially as their ‘organic Flex’ is an extraordinary sports denim that has colour intensity and an incredible flexbility.  Livia Firth is a big fan.

Istanbul based jewellery brand Intua specializes in elegant and understated designs made with gems and hand-painted enamel. Using traditional techniques, each Intua piece is lovingly hand-crafted with at least six individuals contributing to their production. For inspiration the team draw upon their mixed backgrounds, fusing the elegance of high-end British jewellery with the intricate and dazzling exoticism of Turkey. All the pieces in their diamond collection are sold with an internationally recognized diamond certificate. Intua is stocked in the USA, France, China and Wolf & Badger in the UK.

Italian based jewellery line Ziio is the brainchild of French-born Elisabeth Paradon, who began designing in the early eighties. In 1994, Elisabeth started to present two collections a year. Her creations in silver, gold and semi-precious stones, entirely hand worked, utilize an exclusive technique, developed through her experiences acquired during many years travelling and working in different countries. Her combination of semi precious stones, silver and Murano glass beads, together with her sophisticated workmanship, has created a unique and fascinating style. Paradon’s designs are worn by royalty; Queen Rania of Jordan looked stunning recently in a Ziio necklace. Vogue Accessory regularly features Ziio amongst their pages.

Ireland based jewellery designer Blaithin Ennis is a recent graduate of NCAD, Ireland. Coupled with her studies and an industry internship with New York based designer Diane Von Furstenberg, she launched her first range of accessories and contemporary Jewellery in 2012. Each piece is handmade from her studio in the South East of Ireland. In 2014 she was awarded Contemporary Fashion Jewellery Irish Designer of The Year.

Germany based handbag line Loup Noir is the vision of Jens Heimerdinger and Sascha Freyberg, who have combined their experiences in the fashion industry while working for and with international brands such as Hugo Boss. With production in Italy’s Veneto and Como, the bags by the design duo are distinguished by great quality craftsmanship, modern graphic elements, respect for their chosen materials and artistic inspiration. The leather and coated canvas styles are particularly popular as are the customized versions: personalization includes a monogram and choice of over 600 colour combinations including 5 striking neon colour. London based handbag designer Sherene Melinda is a contemporary, independent brand with a unique South African-inspired style. The signature collection consists of handcrafted leather cross-body bags, leather clutch bags, leather tote bags, and leather multi-way bags; all of which are made from distinctive sustainably-sourced Springbok hair-on-hide along with luxurious leather and as an extra special touch they are fully lined with soft and entirely natural pig skin leather.

London based, handbag, purses and accessories designer Lulu Guinness launched as a brand in 1989. It stared with the concept of a briefcase for women which morphed into an idea for vintage style rose basket bags, Guinness’ intention was always to be slightly outré and push boundaries. Critical acclaim and praise from leading fashion industry figures was instantaneous, paving the way for Lulu Guinness stores as far afield as New York and Tokyo as well as being stocked by the world’s most prestigious department stores, from Selfridges and Fortnum and Mason in the UK to Luisa Via Roma in Italy, Harvey Nichols in Dublin and Galeries Lafayette China. 2006 saw Lulu awarded an OBE from the Queen and in 2009 she was awarded The Independent Handbag Designer Awards ICONOCLAST Award for Lifetime Achievement in Handbag Design. Netherlands based Maruti’s shoes are simple but striking through their use of high-quality leathers and fashion prints. Every season they experiment with different techniques to develop new materials and patterns. Because they work with natural materials, different painting techniques and experimental washings, not one pair is exactly the same. This makes each Maruti product unique. Because Maruti work consciously with their materials, all leftover leather is used to create other products such as bracelets, bags, wallets and belts. Scoop And The City: Lulu Guinness signs to show and launches new footwear range

Lulu Guinness OBE, famous for her unique and glamorous British handbags and accessories launched her company in 1989. Instant praise in the fashion media paved the way for Lulu Guinness shops in London, New York, Tokyo and Seoul. Her unique creations are also sold in department and specialty stores worldwide, including Harrods, Selfridges and Fortnum and Mason in the UK, Brown Thomas in Ireland and Lane Crawford in Hong Kong.

Lulu passionately designs the interior of her own stores herself to ensure she captures the true essence of the brand, creating a location where customers come and experience the all encapsulating world of Lulu Guinness.
Lulu’s Collectable bags described as ‘tomorrow’s treasures’, have become permanent fixtures in museums worldwide. The Florist Basket is in the permanent fashion collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

The Collectables have also been the subjects of two exhibitions in Sotheby’s London and New York. Meanwhile her bags are seen on the arms of an ever-expanding array of celebrity supporters, amongst them Dita von Teese, Helena Bonham Carter, Katy Perry, Florence Welch, Christina Aguilera, Rachel Weisz and Alexa Chung.

Despite her success Lulu never had any formal design training apart from a year’s foundation course at art school and a long-standing passion for design and fashion. Lulu’s strong personal style and her original vision has played a large part in her success, with Elsa Schiaparelli as her icon Lulu lives by her motto ‘Dare to be Different’.
