Fay & Solas
Fay & Solas is an independent womenswear label launched by young Scottish designer Jennifer Morris. All of the pieces are lovingly designed and handmade in the EU. Fay & Solas is the diffusion line of the Jennifer Morris luxury label. Fay & Solas offers fun, affordable pieces similar in style to the main label.Upon graduating with a Masters from the London College of Fashion in 2011, Jennifer went on to set up her eponymous label the following year. Jennifer went on to show with Fashion Scout at London Fashion Week, at various showrooms during Paris Fashion Week, and has been featured in press such as Vogue, ELLE and Marie Claire. In 2013 she won the award for ‘Young Designer of the Year’ at the Scottish Fashion Awards. The idea for Fay & Solas came out of a desire to create pieces which followed a similar aesthetic to the Jennifer Morris line but at a much more attainable price point. Now several seasons in, the collections feature classic, wearable shaped pieces with a contemporary and playful twist, using unusual and high-quality tactile fabrics. Available at ASOS Marketplace and at her flagship store in London’s Camden.

Voltan 1898 is an Italian factory that has made high quality shoes since 1898. It is still managed by the same family, which is now in its fourth generation. In 1896 a young Giovanni Luigi Voltan, son of a shoemaker from Stra near Venice, left for America eventually finding work in a large shoe factory. There he acquired the necessary know-how needed to switch from manual to mechanical shoe production, not least in his native Italy. Two years later he returned to Stra and opened Italy’s first shoe factory to use mass production methods. By 1904, with his original workshop bursting at the seams, he moved into larger premises, where the firm has operated from ever since. By this time Voltan had 400 workers on the payroll, and his production capacity was running at an incredible – by the standards of the time – 1000 pairs of shoes a day. Thus Voltan 1898 is still today, and always will be a family business in every sense of the word.A Voltan 1898 shoe is light as a down pillow and the last word in comfort, thanks to decades of experience. They follow the trends, but with a classic touch, reflecting their history and tradition of quality workmanship and material. They continue to manufacture their shoes exclusively in Italy, building on their heritage and continuing Luigi Voltan’s legacy.
