We are very excited here at Lamb To Slaughter HQ as Chie Mihara will be joining Scoop International at its fifth edition on 10-12 February at the iconic Saatchi Gallery – and we are told Chie herself will be popping down to the show!
Born in Brazil of Japanese parents, and later established in Spain, Chie Mihara´s diverse and eclectic origins have fueled her creativity as much as her schooling. She studied fashion in Japan and accessories design at F.I.T. in New York, and by then she knew that designing shoes was to be her passion.
Twelve years ago, Chie and her husband (who owns a shoe component factory) created a line of footwear that carries her name: CHIE MIHARA. The brand was very soon widely accepted in all the major markets including the United States, where her shoes are regarded as a very unique mix of style and comfort.
As for Chie, she defines her creations as naïve, nostalgic, feminine but at the same time strong and urban. Her passion and creativity have catapulted her to becoming one of the most interesting young footwear designers these days.
Today she considers herself a very fortunate person. Now,she is living the best time of her life, as raising her three children and designing her own line of shoes is what she really wants to do. “To create is like breathing, to me. I need to express myself, and when I am drawing, I feel fulfilled and happy”, she says.
