SCOOP: NEW FACES for August show announced

Cleo B

A plethora of international labels are producing collections that favour the ‘easy breezy’ approach to dressing. Household name Lulu Guinness will be revealing her latest handbag designs at SCOOP this August ahead of fashion week season – what a coup! Furthermore, womenswear focussed lines include The Odells from California, Project.AJ117from Copenhagen, Siyu from Valencia, Ivories from Italy,Tinsels from Paris and Armor Lux from Brittany. And my, Carrie Bradshaw would hyperventilate if she saw the footwear collections on offer at SCOOP this edition, with London’s very own Cleo B who would warrant a mention in a Sex and the City episode.

Scoop welcomes Lulu Guinness to its next edition in August. Still as involved in her brand as the day she founded it back in 1989, Lulu Guinness launched with the concept of a briefcase for women which morphed into an idea for vintage style rose basket bags, Lulu’s intention was always to be slightly outré and push boundaries. Critical acclaim and praise from leading fashion industry figures was instantaneous, paving the way for Lulu Guinness stores as far afield as New York and Tokyo as well as London, and creating opportunities to be sold on the shelves of the world’s most prestigious department stores, from Selfridges and Fortnum and Mason in the UK to Luisa Via Roma in Italy, Harvey Nichols Dublin and Galeries Lafayette China. Her creations are regularly seen on the arms of Helena Bonham Carter, Florence Welch, Katy Perry, Dita von Teese, Alexa Chung and Christina Aguilera, trailblazing women who dare to venture outside the parameters set by a predominantly trend led fashion industry. 2006 saw Lulu awarded an OBE from the Queen.

A hit with the fashion press and regularly featured on blogs such as Damsel in Dior, Walk In Wonderland and Kelly Golightly, Californian womenswear label The Odells have mastered a sexy, buoyant vibe with their quintessentially ‘West Coast’ designs. Founded in February 2014, The Odells is a contemporary label whose aim is to bring a laid-back feel to elegant and feminine clothing. Give modern wardrobes renewed direction with The Odells clothing. Featuring slouchy pants, draped tank dresses, printed tunics and multi-coloured separates, these pieces will take you from day to evening in effortless style. Stocked extensively throughout the US

In 2011 a bunch of creative people congregated in a small house in Copenhagen and conjured up the idea of establishing a new clothing project; everyday essentials that all women would love to have in their wardrobe. Enter Project.AJ117. Being “Made in Europe” is significant to the team as they felt that here they could employ the best technicians and workmanship for the cool look they wanted. Project.AJ117 combine the best of Scandinavian design traditions with the simplicity of Italian workmanship and finishings. The brand Project.AJ117 use delicate and highly exclusive natural fabrics like silk, viscose, cotton and wool and mix them together to create new unique surfaces and outstanding combinations. Their collections are garment dyed in a unique way called ”cold dye” where all pieces go through a special process by hand to achieve this unique appearance.
No two styles are 100% identical and this must not be seen as a fault, but as a strong feature of their total look. Project.AJ117 is a collaboration between head of design Charlotte Vadum and luxury distributor CPH Fashion Pool. Their presence is felt with their European showrooms in cities including Copenhagen, Oslo, München, Amsterdam, Antwerp and London.

Siyu is a prêt-à-porter, womenswear brand that was born in 2008 by likeminded friends Pilar, Aina, Camino and Carlota who all appreciate the artisan side of design. Siyu’s universe is made up by bikinis, scarves, shirts, blouses, trousers, handkerchiefs, mittens and first and foremost, its most recurrent garments in each collection are the dresses. Comfortable and pragmatic, Siyu’s clean cuts with a whispering of femininity such as their bright trimmings, linings, unique patterns and other details, are already a hit with their fanbase. Based on the crafted design look, ethics precede aesthetics. Wool, cotton, silk, at Siyu, the shape is given by their choice of raw materials and fabrics. Recent press include HUF, Germany, Trend Select, Japan, SELF, USA and Teen Vogue, US.

Italian womenswear line Ivories designs classic yet contemporary wardrobe staples that are not tied to seasons because they themselves are ‘out of the time’, this being a totally Italian skill and way to conceive fashion. Thrown together or mixed and matched Ivories is the go-to brand for relaxed separates.

In 2012 Rémi Regazzoni, designer and co-owner of Tinsels,
put his 10 years of fashion design experience and started his own womenswear brand. Originally from Lyon he found roots in Paris. Right from the start, Rémi’s work was hailed as a success across the globe, including France, his home country. Focussed on simplicity in design and lightness in detail, Remi’s daywear is sold in Anthropologie, London, Citadium, Paris, WP Lavori, Milan, Strumpet, Brooklyn and Isetan, Singapore.

Founded in 1938 in France’s Brittany region, Armor Lux, a ready-to-wear fashion and underwear brand for men, women and children, is one of the oldest manufacturer still designing and producing the majority of their collection in Brittany. Today Armor Lux is well known for the originality of its clothes inspired by French maritime tradition and the values conveyed by the sea. Items originally constructed for sailing, are designed to be worn as reliable and stylish everyday garments. Their ‘coastal wardrobe’ theme unsurprisingly includes various Breton tops. Rather popular is the Breton top made from a heavyweight cotton jersey that is super soft to the skin, other Marine items include their Pea Coasts, Duffle Coats, Sailor Sweaters, Sailor raincoats and Fisherman Smocks.  Armor Lux represents over 75 years of experience, 600 employees, 3 production sites and a network of over 50 stores throughout Europe.
