Versace’s Army

Donatella Versace celebrated the modern woman of today, gathering an army of models and calling them to fashion action. Utilitarian jackets and chiffon dresses, with camouflage combinations and animal print in neon orange, jungle green, purple and black, strutted down the catwalk. Waist definition was key with a neon belt showcasing the feminine silhouette – will you be brave enough to work this trend next season?

Decorative Prada

For Prada every piece was engulfed with decorative detail and contemporary styling was key. Emphasis was placed on the skirt suit in a range of tweeds, stripes and appliqué florals, with 20s style drop waist dresses thrown into the mix. Accessories added a modern touch to the lady like look, with models sporting gold lips and large bauble earrings.

Marni Femininity

Marni brightened up the Milan catwalks, with an array of bold primary colours combined with graphic prints and shapes, in soft sculpted fluid lines. With a nod to Bauhaus-style and a new take on layering, pieces harmoniously fitted together with one not knowing where one garment began and another finished – the result, an elegant and vibrant balance.

Nostalgic for Dolce & Gabbana

“Italia is love” was the name of the Dolce & Gabbana show and the collection was a homage to Italy’s post-war period. Fifties style silhouettes featured Italian landmarks, from the colosseum in Rome to the tower of Pisa and then onto scenes of Sorrento, with elaborate embroidery and statement florals typical of Dolce & Gabbana mixed in. Social media made it’s way onto the catwalk with models taking “selfies” – a trend sure to still be around next summer!
