NYFW SS16 Report


Soft silks, monochrome touches and decorative facial lace by the make-up legend Pat McGarth Givenchy was a whimsical haven. With Riccardo Tisci’s tenth year as creative director, his own words that described the show told ‘a celebration of life, pure love, different religions and all people. Adorned with feathers, lace and silk, Tisci’s models were a transitional spectacle, with examples of intricate underwear as outwear, following with show-stopping gowns and androgynous tailoring all bound together with a crisp black, white and gold palette. With a new store opening in Madison Avenue, Riccardo was out to make a fashion statement with a one-off show in the big apple and indeed, he did. 




Alexander Wang

Reflective of his Manhattan roots, Wang’s showcase of eclectic sportswear, lingerie, leathers, denim and t-shirts showcased an effortless, perfectly matched mash-up of stylish street wear. Celebrating his 10-year tenure, wearable staple pieces graced the catwalks, in bold hues, mixed with tones of white, khaki, blue and black.




Victoria Beckham

“There isn’t one particular theme, it’s more about a carefree attitude. I travel around a lot and I’m like a sponge. You can see that I’ve been to Africa, it might not be a huge thing but it’s there in the colours. There is an urban, surf feel to certain things”, says Victoria Beckham (courtesy of Telegraph).

True to her word, Beckham’s collection showcased a carefree attitude, with a mix of loose silhouettes, bold graphics and clever layering, with statement looks that exude the ‘I just threw this on’ sort of chic. The overtly covetable last look, displayed an oversized, yet structured jacket with a free flowing skirt to match. Tommy Hilfiger

Jamaican vibes graced the draw-dropping show, with model of the moment, Gigi Hadid leading the pack. A colourful mix of crochet knits, maxi dress prints and a sighted Jamaican string vest, Hilfiger took full advantage of Tommy Hilfiger’s island inspiration was literally reinterpreted with a paradise island set, matched with a pool, with models having a splash for an unforgettable finale. the season ahead and displayed a holiday must-have wardrobe, needed, now.
