LONDON FASHION WEEK REPORT SS16

London Fashion Week moved from its previous position at Somerset House to a car park in the centre of Soho creating an urban, low-key atmosphere that suited the feel of both London and the SS16 shows.

Here are some of the five most talked about new trends from the catwalk and the fashion pack:

 Trainers are here to stay

Trainers were seen everywhere this season, from Christopher Kane’s neon pairs to street style stars. Paul Smith, Jonathan Saunders and Erdem also all ditched high heels for strappy sandals and edgy flats

 Sleeves are the new focus

Forget the trouser flare, the new look is voluminous sleeves. Roskanda leads the way with her giant flared bell arm jumpsuits

Yellow and Orange are the key spring colours

Bold colours were seen all across the catwalk, with a special focus on sunshine yellows and oranges. Christopher Kane’s neon hues took this trend to the extreme, while softer tones were seen both at Roskanda and Burberry

 Gloomy Spring

The rain on Monday only added to the dark florals seen at Mary Katrantzou, which was her prominent print of the season. Hunter’s new version of their infamous wellington boots were also one of the most photographed looks from the catwalks

 Top Accessory

The mini bag was replaced with the rucksack, with black leather ones seen on most of the models on the Burberry catwalk
